Jane Austen Remembered

Today is the 200th Anniversary of the death of one of England’s most loved and favourite authors, Jane Austen. Jane Austen died in Winchester on the 18 July 1817 and is responsible for giving the world Pride and Prejudice and of course my favourite, Persuasion besides 4 other completed novels. To mark this anniversary the Royal Mint has released the first preview of the new polymer £10 note which will feature author.

Jane Austen 10pounds

The £10 note featuring Jane Austen will officially be launched in September. As well as the £10 note the Royal Mint have also issued a £2 coin depicting the silhouette of Jane Austen’s profile along with her signature. The £2 coin is having a limited distribution in Hampshire but I am hoping that eventually they will make there way north so i can get my mitts on one.

Jane Austen is one of my favourite authors. I love reading her novels and also watching the number of adaptations that have been made for TV and Film. I am also a fan of all the spin-off, inspired of and fan fiction that has been created over the years based on Jane Austen’s life or novels.

December 2017 will be Jane Austen month on my blog : what-is-hoped-for.com. During that month my whole blog will dedicated to the this great lady. I look forward to sharing my love for her works etc… with you.
