Sleeping Beauty’s Tower WIP #1

One of the items on my 101 List is to complete my Sleeping Beauty’s Tower project. I am very ashamed to say that this is a project I have been meaning to do for about 8 years or maybe more after buying The Gatehouse Kit from Dolls House Emporium.

I had to Google an image of the kit as Dolls House Emporium no longer sell the kit on there website.

At various points over the past 8 years, I have made plans, brought items, etc… just not actually got around to doing anything.  I did actually start the base for the tower a while ago (I posted a photo in my “Hello April” post) but thought it was about time to start the tower.

Over the weekend I have been putting the brickwork on the tower. As you can see in the photo below it looks quite realistic.

It is brick effect paper I brought off someone on eBay. They printed it on to textured effect wallpaper so it feels bumpy.

I think it works really well. I have used this on the outside of the tower and also the lower floor where the arch is. I have also painted the flag stones around the arch to match.

This is as far as I can go at the moment with the outside of the tower as I have to do the interior. The problem I have with the interior is deciding what I have going to do in the main room and then how I am going to do it? At the moment I have a wooden floor and plain walls it needs decoration.

I am hoping to be able to do a bit more over the weekend so will hopefully have some more photo’s for next Tuesday.

101 Update…

In July 2016 I began my 101 Things in 1001 Days <<<Click Here for full list>>>

On Tuesday I will have exactly 2 years or 730 days to complete as many items on my 101 List as possible… argh!! Over the past couple of months I haven’t really given my 101 List a lot of thought.

However, I did complete 2 things in March

One of the items I have started is to create a 101 List of my favourite movies. This is turning out to be harder than I thought because I like a lot more movies than I realised.  I keep adding new things taking things out categorising them. I think I am making this harder than I should. lol! 

I don’t want to bore you with everything that is in progress as we all could be here for a very long time.

Here are the statistics as they stand at this moment in time…

Currently in progress – 23/101

Completed – 6/101

Need to start / complete – 72/101 (That’s a big number)

During April I should have completed another item as I will have taken part in the A to Z April Challenge.

From May on-wards I will try and work a bit harder on my list.

Time To Make A Change

Is it just me or has the whole of internet decided to revamp itself? Every app, social media site, even WordPress has updated itself in someway. Some of the changes are good, some a little confusing but overall most changes are for the better.  It could of course be due to the transition in the seasons that is inspiring all this change, whatever it is, it has convinced me that now is the time I really need start making some big changes in my life.

Spring is often linked to new life, new beginnings so now seems like as good as time as any to actually start putting some things into motion and reaffirming some of those plans I had in the new year.

My word for the Year is : CREATE

So far… I have created nothing. I am not afraid to admit that. I have started a few things but nothing has been finished. At the moment I am concentrating on creating a work space. I am hoping to complete this by the end of the month as I have now found a desk that I want.  I will post photos once it is completed.

I do need to keep in mind my quote for March – What you create doesn’t need to be perfect. 

THINGS TO DO 

Below are five things that I want to achieve during 2017. I have not made any major life changing goals this year. I don’t think I have the energy. I am making plans for the future though and once I finalise them I will share.

  1. Read 25 Books – this is my book target for 2017 on Goodreads – So far this year I have read 1 Book. Hopeless!! A couple of years ago I would have read 5 books by now.
  2. Visit Italy – I have booked this!! Yay!! We go in July to Rome 
  3. Go to Disney Land Paris – This is booked too… October so we can meet the villains. 
  4. Go to the cinema once a month – I failed this because so far this year the only movie I have seen at the cinema is La La Land. I am planing on going twice this month.  Does that count? 
  5. Lose Weight (a lot of weight) – I have not weighed myself yet this year, however I will cover this in the Slimming Sunday post on the last Sunday on this month. 

THINGS FROM THE 101 LIST 

These are things I want to complete off my 101 List by the end of 2017

4. For 365 days write down something that makes me happy – Not happening. I did the whole of January. Everyday was a bit samey, so decided to give it a miss for a few months I might start again in May or maybe wait till next year.

8. Keep a Bullet Journal for a Year – I am kind of completing this. I have restarted this in March as in January and February I got caught up with trying to make it look super neat and perfect. So, I had to sit myself down, buy a new book and start again. It will now be from March 2017 to March 2018.

9. Have a Healthy Lunch Routine – Work in Progress – I have had really bad stomach ache for ages. I am almost positive I have an allergy to something. I am keeping a food diary and trying to figure out what it is. I also need to remember to go food shopping.

11. Get fit enough to run 5k – I am unsure how to measure this, but again this will be mentioned in Slimming Sunday.

22. Read the bible in 365 days – This is my one success so far this year. Everyday I have read a few chapters and I am now on the book of Joshua.

26. Create a new Study Folder – I have brought the Folder. I have just got to fill it. Again there will be photo’s once I have new creative space and can make the photo’s look good.

35. Read War and Peace – No started yet

41. Complete NaNoWriMo (again) – Not till November. I have an idea for a story though.

44. Complete the A – Z April Challenge – Yes. Look out for my Reveal Post on the 20th March.

48. Finish Sleeping Beauty’s Tower – I have begun. It is growing.

59. Fill the Photo frame in my bedroom – Nope not yet

60. Create a Photo Book for Georgia – nor this

68. Pay off all debt – This is in process.

83. Make Macaroons – I might have a go at making some of these this week.

98. Set up my own business – I added this to my list but I keep going back and forth on the idea. I can see a lot of advantages but also a lot of disadvantages. I need to do more research. 

 

So they were the things I picked that I wanted to do this year. There is of course so many other things I want to do, which reminds me I need to revisit my 101 list in April and have a look at what needs to be done on there.

I need to stop procrastinating.

2017 – Me and Things to do

I enjoy writing lists and setting myself goals/targets. They are mainly small things and sometimes I fail to achieve them but at least I try. During 2016 I began another 101 List most of the things I want to do this year are centred around this list.

One of the things I have started doing over the past few years is to find a word for the year. My word for 2016 was Hope, 2015 was not a great year so I need to find things to be hopeful for. 2016 was a better year for me personally and it was also a bit of a rest year for me. During 2017 I hope to be a bit more proactive.

My word for 2017 is  C R E A T E 

I will have a motivational quote each month based around creating or creativity.

This months quote is :

“Life is not about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.”

I also hope to actually share some of my ideas and creations on here.

As you can see I have quite a lot of things in progress. I am a little disappointed in myself that my Health and Fitness is not in progress, but this is due to not being well. I hope to running again tomorrow.

101 Things To Do…

I love doing the 101 Lists as it helps me to focus my goals, get stuff done and gain a sense of achievement. It also motivates me, I have a tendency to procrastinate.

101 Things in a 1001 Days is one of my favourite challenges. I discovered the concept over 10 years ago now and this will be the fourth list I have compiled. I wish I could claim some kind of professional status but I have never completed all the items on any of my lists. The most I have completed is about 80% however, I have done a lot of things I would never have done otherwise.

I love doing the 101 Lists as it helps me to focus my goals, get stuff done and gain a sense of achievement. It also motivates me, I have a tendency to procrastinate.

My start date for the new list will be – THURSDAY 14 JULY 2016 and the 1001 Days will be completed on THURSDAY 11 APRIL 2019 which will be the day I turn 39 years old.  I will be posting my NEW 101 LIST on here on Thursday 30 June 2016. I am hoping it will be nearly completed by then… SO far I have about 40 items.

In the process of compiling and competing these lists I have made a few mistakes in past. I have been too ambitious and due to this I ended up abandoning my first list. However, I have also learnt a few lessons which I am going to share with you, and I hope you find them useful.

Remember to make your goals S M A R T.

SPECIFIC – What is it? – Don’t be vague. If you want to learn a language, state the language you want to learn. If you want to lose weight, how many pounds?

MEASURABLE – How many? or, How Much? Try not to put for example – Get Fit. Put how you are going to get fit such as walking for 30 minutes 3 times a week or train to run the London Marathon.

ATTAINABLE – Are you going to be able to achieve it? You might want to Back Pack around the World but have you got the funds to complete it?

RELEVANT – Life changes. What you can do today you might not be able to do tomorrow? Also, think about those who you are close too and whether any of the goals might affect them.

TIMELY – How long will it take you to complete? Work out a schedule as best you can.

DO – Think about the date. A lot of people choose to start these challenges on 1 January or on a significant birthday. I recommend having the significant date at the end of the list. That way your end date will be easier to remember and will stop you procrastinating.

DON’T – Be too ambitious. A 1001 Days does sound like a lot of time but in reality it is about 2.75 years and let’s face it, a lot can happen, circumstances can change. You might not have time to write a book, back pack round the world, learn 3 different languages, a new skill and spend more quality time with your family, while training to do the London Marathon.

LOOK –  At other peoples 101 Lists. Visit Day Zero Project, search on Google and Pinterest, there are loads of lists out there to get inspiration from. Need to work out your Dates? Use the Date Calculator.
