What Is In A Name??? #FuturePlans

Every so often I like to share my future plans for my blog. As there is now less than 20 weeks left of 2017 I thought now would be a good time to do this.

***Important Notice ***

I am changing the name of my Blog. From October it will no longer be called “What is hoped for”.

To be honest “What is hoped for” was only meant to be a temporary name as I couldn’t think of anything else at the time. I chose that name as it is sentence from my favourite scripture – Hebrews 11.1. Also at the time that sentence summed up my blogging journey, what I was hoping for as I ventured back into the world of blogging. Over the past few months I have really tried to put more effort into my blogging and as the blog has evolved I feel as though the name does not reflect my blog anymore.

I am planning a big name reveal post… so I will not be revealing the new name today.

Future Plans

September – “Roald Dahl Month”  Last year was a 100 years since the great man himself was born, which means this year is 101 year anniversary. As I missed last year, I will be marking it this year instead. September will have plenty of Roald Dahl themed posts – books and movies will feature quite prominently of course. I am also hoping to do some kind of art work based on one of his books for the month which I can feature.

Along with celebrating Roald Dahl there will also be mention of the illustrator most synonymous with his books – Quentin Blake. I went and saw a mini exhibition of some of his work earlier in the year and I am planning on going to another one in September.

October – Towards the end of October I am going to Disney Land Paris with my daughter who also turns 18 years this month. Last year I spent October participating in a “Book-tober” challenge. As I have planned a book theme for both September and December I don’t want to bore everyone anymore on my love of books.

October will also be the launch of my new Blog name – so maybe there might be some posts centred around that.

November – This month marks the half way point on my 101 list (101 Things in 1001 Days).  This month will mainly consist of reflections on the 101 list, achievements and plans for the future.  I am considering taking part in NaNoWriMo again this year but we will see.

December – “Jane Austen Month” – On the 18 July 2017 many fans of Jane Austen marked 200 years since her death and so did I with a little tribute post. However, December will be Jane Austen on my blog as this was the month that Jane was born. This month will of course feature book and movie reviews, mainly on the modern re-tellings or spin-offs of Jane Austen’s work. I am also planning on doing something creative for this month based on Austen’s work.

2018 – Who knows what the new year will bring – hopefully lot’s of new and wonderful things but it is too soon to plan such things yet.

GIVEAWAYS

Everyone loves Free Stuff and if I get over a 100 followers on my blog I am planning on doing a little giveaway.

So, that is a few of my future plans for the blog. I hope you like them.

Lu’s Travel Bucket List

It’s really odd because I never really had any desire to travel till a couple of years ago. There were places I wanted to go to of course but did not really worry about it too much. In fact I don’t really ever think I thought much about leaving the UK. Now I spend a good few moments everyday wondering how I can get to certain places? What it would be like to live there? What job could I do there? Besides a million other questions. I know of course that the likely hood of me moving anywhere is a distant dream at the moment. I can however try and visit there.

A few years ago I decided to start a Travel Bucket List due to there being so many places I want to see and visit. I began this list on my old blog and when I ended the blog, I forgot to move the list over. So, over the past 12 months I have been trying to find time to do it again and every so often I add something new to My Travel Bucket List pages.  I have so many places I want to visit I now have 3 pages -My normal BUCKET LIST , EUROPE – BUCKET LIST & the UK – BUCKET LIST.

I have been trying to complete the Lists manually and then add them onto my blog when I remember or have time. All the lists have so many items now that I think I am going to have to create a separate page for each Continent.  I have sought ideas from websites such as Tripadvisor and Pinterest, as well other sites I happen to stumble across. However, I am still looking for inspiration and ideas.

I will be completing the other Continent pages over the next week hopefully. I would really appreciate any ideas either for places, things to do or even websites to visit for inspiration.

Thank you for your help

Pay It Forward…

One of my favourite things is discovering new, interesting words and there meanings. I usually never remember them but this one stuck with me and seems very relevant at this moment in time.

Kuebiko

Kuebiko (Japanese) – (n) a state of exhaustion inspired by acts of senseless violence

Lately I am waking up each morning and wondering what I going to be faced with when I switch on the TV. Terrorism and disaster dominates the news at the moment, locally as well as globally. There appears to be no end to the many ways humans can cause others grief. Witnessing it on a daily basis through the media is indeed exhausting and also out of my control.

Their are people I know who have stopped watching/listening/reading the news because they find it too distressing, but is turning a blind eye to the suffering of those around you the right thing to do? I have no idea! I am not here to tell anyone what they should or should not be doing.

There are no words that can explain the sorrow, the heartache, the grief, the tears and especially the pain. The mental, emotional and physical pain anyone who has lost someone or who been affected in some way by the recent atrocities. I can not pretend that I know or even understand what the victims and families of the terrorist attacks in Manchester, London and the terrible incident at Grenfell Tower are feeling as well as those affected by the other awful incidents that are occurring around the globe on a daily basis. I feel completely helpless.

What is wonderfully heartwarming though is how people/communities have come together to help those in need. For every person out there who wants to cause harm their are 10 people at least who are willing to help and expecting no reward in return.

Payitforward

There is a movie called “Pay it Forward”, you may be aware of it already. It is also a novel by Catherine Ryan. The concept of “Pay it Forward” has been going for sometime. In fact there is even a Pay it Forward day, which in 2018 will be on the 27th April. The point is not to pay back kindness but to pass it forward.

Instead of waiting till next year for that one day, wouldn’t it be nice if we could put it into practice in our everyday lives, now. The gestures do not have to be big. It could be holding a door open for someone, helping someone in a wheelchair or a pram get off public transport, smiling, helping a colleague at work with something. We may not be able to make the whole world a better place but if it is within our power we should try and make it a better place for those around us.

Even though I try to do this anyway, I know I could and can do better. I have become cynical in my old age. So, as my own personal tribute to all those affected by any terrorist attack or disaster, man made or natural, anywhere in the world. I will be doing my best to make someone’s day a little brighter and I hope whoever I help will “Pay it Forward”.

Bullet Journal Post #1 (again)

I love the idea of Bullet Journals, I have for a long time. I think I may have mentioned it a few times before. I go on Pinterest and look at photo’s of all the wonderful layouts that other people produce. I am not even going to try to recreate what some of them have done, they are so good.  Then I go and forget all about actually doing stuff with my Bullet Journal “BuJo”.

So the other day I was playing with my BuJo… I have re-started it again from June as I missed out May completely. I decided I was going to have a doodle “Summer 2017” Page to start the new bit in the middle.

Summer Doodle Page

I am going to to doodle on the ^page throughout the summer and show you the end result at the end of August. I couldn’t resist using a few stamps to add a bit of interest.

June Page

Above is the start of my title page for June. I found a few scraps of paper that I have had for ages but didn’t know what to do with. I have had a bit of a play with them. I forgot to take a photo of the finished page but I will post that next week. It will give me something to talk about.

I hope you like my BuJo for the summer so far.

Hello April…

Well, we certainly marched through last month and now a new month is once again upon us.  March was busy in lots of ways. I have finally got my bedroom roughly how I want it. I am not a 100% happy with it yet, which is why there is no photo, but once I am I will share.  My room is not very big so it does get cluttered very quickly.

My plans for April so far include having more blood tests and going back to the doctors… exciting.

My Quote for April is…

Blog Theme: Disney Characters

I currently don’t have a working graphics package on my computer. I did have Photoshop and Paintshop but they have both stopped working after the latest Windows update so I am stealing images from the internet. If they happen to be your images thank you very much for producing such delightful pictures.

You may have noticed that I am also participating in the A – Z April Challenge. My theme for the challenge is Disney Sidekicks (Supporting Characters). Yesterday I published the first post in the challenge, A is for… in this case A was for Abu from Aladdin. I have drawn a little picture too. I decided I was going to kick start my drawing again with this challenge so I hope it works?

I now have a fair amount of polystyrene for my “Sleeping Beauty Tower” project. This is to help build up the sides of the base.   It consists of a metre squared mdf base with a smaller mdf square attached to that and then there is three sided box on top of that. I am turning this into a cave.

STB 3

I am not sure whether this photo is big enough for you see. I have started layering some foam board to the side. I am hoping to try and make some steps to lead up to the tower. I am also thinking of making it look like a cave on a beach. Creating some sea, maybe a boat? I also acquired some lights on a string which I intend to fix in around the base so it looks like ground light.

I know it does not look like much at the moment but very soon, hopefully it will.

In Other News…

I still haven’t read any books… Next Sunday I will do a quick update on my 101 list.

I hope you all have a good April and enjoy my A – Z challenge.
