What Is In A Name??? #FuturePlans

Every so often I like to share my future plans for my blog. As there is now less than 20 weeks left of 2017 I thought now would be a good time to do this.

***Important Notice ***

I am changing the name of my Blog. From October it will no longer be called “What is hoped for”.

To be honest “What is hoped for” was only meant to be a temporary name as I couldn’t think of anything else at the time. I chose that name as it is sentence from my favourite scripture – Hebrews 11.1. Also at the time that sentence summed up my blogging journey, what I was hoping for as I ventured back into the world of blogging. Over the past few months I have really tried to put more effort into my blogging and as the blog has evolved I feel as though the name does not reflect my blog anymore.

I am planning a big name reveal post… so I will not be revealing the new name today.

Future Plans

September – “Roald Dahl Month”  Last year was a 100 years since the great man himself was born, which means this year is 101 year anniversary. As I missed last year, I will be marking it this year instead. September will have plenty of Roald Dahl themed posts – books and movies will feature quite prominently of course. I am also hoping to do some kind of art work based on one of his books for the month which I can feature.

Along with celebrating Roald Dahl there will also be mention of the illustrator most synonymous with his books – Quentin Blake. I went and saw a mini exhibition of some of his work earlier in the year and I am planning on going to another one in September.

October – Towards the end of October I am going to Disney Land Paris with my daughter who also turns 18 years this month. Last year I spent October participating in a “Book-tober” challenge. As I have planned a book theme for both September and December I don’t want to bore everyone anymore on my love of books.

October will also be the launch of my new Blog name – so maybe there might be some posts centred around that.

November – This month marks the half way point on my 101 list (101 Things in 1001 Days).  This month will mainly consist of reflections on the 101 list, achievements and plans for the future.  I am considering taking part in NaNoWriMo again this year but we will see.

December – “Jane Austen Month” – On the 18 July 2017 many fans of Jane Austen marked 200 years since her death and so did I with a little tribute post. However, December will be Jane Austen on my blog as this was the month that Jane was born. This month will of course feature book and movie reviews, mainly on the modern re-tellings or spin-offs of Jane Austen’s work. I am also planning on doing something creative for this month based on Austen’s work.

2018 – Who knows what the new year will bring – hopefully lot’s of new and wonderful things but it is too soon to plan such things yet.

GIVEAWAYS

Everyone loves Free Stuff and if I get over a 100 followers on my blog I am planning on doing a little giveaway.

So, that is a few of my future plans for the blog. I hope you like them.

Seven Modern Day Wonders

I have added something else to my Bucket List. It is travel related but as it covers a number of countries I have just left it on the actual Bucket List page.

Now I have always been aware of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. There are only one of these still in existence in today’s world. However, I was not aware until recently of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World or as they are sometimes call “The New Seven Wonders of the World”.   SO, guess what is now on The Bucket List –

Visit the New Seven Wonders of the World

If you are unaware of what these New Seven Wonders are I have listed them below. I have already been to one, so six more to go.

  1. Christ the Redeemer Statue in Rio de Janerio
  2. The Great Wall of China
  3. The Colosseum, Rome – complete July 2017
  4. Petra, Jordan
  5. Machu Picchu, Peru
  6. Chichen Itza, Mexico
  7. The Taj Mahal, India

Now I don’t know who decided these were the New Wonders but I am in no way qualified to disagree with the decision.  I believe from what I have read on the internet that there was an vote and these Seven were chosen from a choice of two hundred existing monuments.

new-seven-wonders-of-the-world

I found this map on the World Atlas page which gives an indication on where these Wonders are located over the World.

I have no idea how many I will actually see but it is something to aim for.

The website for the Seven New Wonders is a good reference to use for places to visit. Not only does it list the Seven New Wonders but also the New Seven Natural Wonders and the New Seven Wonder Cities. To have a look <<<Click Here>>> I am thinking about adding both lists to my Bucket List too.

If you are now wondering what the Seven Ancient Wonders of the World were, I have listed them below:

  1. The Great Pyramid of Giza, Egypt (The only one still visible today)
  2. The Colossus of Rhodes, Greece
  3. The Lighthouse of Alexandra, Egypt
  4. The Statue of Zeus at Olympia, Greece
  5. The Hanging Garden’s of Babylon, Iraq
  6. The Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, Turkey
  7. The Temple of Artemis, Turkey

Lu’s Travel Bucket List

It’s really odd because I never really had any desire to travel till a couple of years ago. There were places I wanted to go to of course but did not really worry about it too much. In fact I don’t really ever think I thought much about leaving the UK. Now I spend a good few moments everyday wondering how I can get to certain places? What it would be like to live there? What job could I do there? Besides a million other questions. I know of course that the likely hood of me moving anywhere is a distant dream at the moment. I can however try and visit there.

A few years ago I decided to start a Travel Bucket List due to there being so many places I want to see and visit. I began this list on my old blog and when I ended the blog, I forgot to move the list over. So, over the past 12 months I have been trying to find time to do it again and every so often I add something new to My Travel Bucket List pages.  I have so many places I want to visit I now have 3 pages -My normal BUCKET LIST , EUROPE – BUCKET LIST & the UK – BUCKET LIST.

I have been trying to complete the Lists manually and then add them onto my blog when I remember or have time. All the lists have so many items now that I think I am going to have to create a separate page for each Continent.  I have sought ideas from websites such as Tripadvisor and Pinterest, as well other sites I happen to stumble across. However, I am still looking for inspiration and ideas.

I will be completing the other Continent pages over the next week hopefully. I would really appreciate any ideas either for places, things to do or even websites to visit for inspiration.

Thank you for your help

Hello August…

Only two days into August and I am already behind. I have been having a bit of trouble with WordPress. It is performing very slowly and all my widgets disappeared. I will check that the slowness is not due to my laptop but everything else appears to be moving along okay!

QUOTE FOR AUGUST

Sunshine quote

“Some Days you just have to create your own SUNSHINE”

Well at the moment this quote is very appropriate as it has rained quite a lot over the past couple of weeks since coming back from Rome. Though this quote does not really refer to the weather. It refers to well being and creating happiness in your own life, or at least that is how I am going to view it.

THEME FOR AUGUST

As you know I love a theme and the theme for August will be – TRAVEL

This will also include updates on the Travel Bucket Lists as I did not get round to doing as much as I wanted in June and July. I am hoping to put some holiday photo’s on from this years trips to Rome, Naples and Pompeii.

Future Travel plans may also be discussed as well as past holidays and day trips.

CURRENTLY READING

I wanted to try and read 25 books during 2017. I am 4 books behind target at the moment.

I am currently reading The Bible daily – I am trying to complete it within the year. I am three days behind on my reading schedule at the moment so I hope to catch up with that over the next week.

I am also reading the last book in The Outlaw Chronicles Series by Angus Donald, entitled The Death of Robin Hood. I think there is a big clue in the title there I am disappointed to be coming to the end of such a wonderful series. I just finished the penultimate book The Kings Assassin and had to start this one straight away. It took me years to find a decent Robin Hood series. It has kept me entertained and at times has made me cry. Angus has a nasty habit of killing off characters I like but as much as I dislike it, I also admire an author who knows when it is the right time and is not afraid. Look out for my reviews coming soon.

HEALTH & WELL BEING

I promise my Health and Well Being updates for August will be better than July’s. If you read my update on Sunday you will know I have not been well over the past 2 to 3 weeks with various things. I am feeling much better this week so I am hoping that it continues.

BU-JO

I must remember to do this….

I will get around to taking photo’s of the Bullet Journals progress. Admittedly there has not been a great deal, though I have done some.

SEPTEMBER

My theme for September is Roald Dahl. As I missed the 100 years of Roald Dahl last year…. I am doing the 101 years this year. I am trying to decide on something to draw/create based on his books so if you have any ideas of which book to choose please let me know. One of my favourite books is The Boy so I might do something from that?

40 Things To Do Before 40…

Have you ever seen those lists people compile of all the things you should do before you reach whatever milestone age you will be. As you know I like lists and am all for a challenge.  I am currently trying to create my Ultimate Bucket List which includes a lot of travel as there are so many places I want to see.

I also have a 101 List which runs up until my 39th which is in just under 2 years time. I reach the half way point in November… When the 101 List ends I quite fancy the idea of doing a 40 Things Before 40…. but what should I have on it?

I know it is going to take me ages to come up with ideas so I am going to start gathering peoples thoughts and jotting down things.

I am also contemplating the idea of having a theme. I was watching something the other day where they were interviewing a comedian who is turning 30 years old next year. He stated that instead of having a party, he wanted to go to 30 restaurants all over the UK throughout the year to mark it. I quite fancy doing something like that only not going to restaurants, I’m not very foody.

Whatever the finished list becomes will of course depend on financial situation.

There are of course some ground rules.

  • The goals have to be achievable and able to complete within 366 days (2020 is a leap year).
  • The goals have to be measurable or physical so there is evidence of completion.
  • Skinny dipping, streaking or anything else that involves me exposing myself in anyway is not going to appear on the list. I would not want to give anyone including myself nightmares.

So any suggestions? Let me know…

Sleeping Beauty’s Tower WIP #2

Well I did intend to update on this once a week, however over the past couple of weeks things have got in the way and I haven”t actually done a lot. I also have a a couple of busy months a head so I’m not sure how much I will get done. I am going to try and update at least once a month.

After doodling for about 3 days I have finally decided on the designs for the roof interior. I wanted to include the good fairies in the design of the tower somewhere and here feels like the perfect place.

Inside Roof 1

As you can see I need to paint them, which I am a little nervous about so I want to start it when I have plenty of time. They are based on the three good fairies from the Disney animated Sleeping Beauty. I know in the original tale there were more than three fairies. Each of the fairies Flora, Fauna and Merryweather have different shaped cloak clasps which is what I have based the design behind them on.

Roof 1

This is the other roof panel. As you can see it has a window. I need to order some more roof tiles and some ridging tiles as I haven’t got enough.

Floors 1

I have also put the floor boards on the floor. This is them in there natural state. I do intend to age them a bit.

Inside Tower Before

Above is the Tower before I re – painted and added the brick to the inside of it. It also gives you some idea of how the Tower will stand once it is completed.

Inside Tower 1

Above is one of the Tower walls painted and with brick work. I do like the brick work I think it looks really effective.

At least progress is being made even if it is slow. I hope you like it so far…

Health & Well Being Sunday #1

At the end of every month I used to complete a post call Slimming Sunday, which mainly chronicled my lack of weight loss progress. The last few months though I began to encompass other things, like how I was feeling, other issues etc… So Slimming Sunday has now evolved into Health & Wellbeing Sunday.  I will now post this twice a month instead of once and I am hoping it will motivate me a bit more into making better progress not just with weight loss but with life in general.

What’s New….

In all honesty not a lot. I have not had a lot of sleep due to the warm weather. Though my iron levels are slightly up.. which is good. Unfortunately today I am in pain with my mouth once again.  The filling/crown that I had fixed a few weeks ago is coming loose and the left side of my face really hurts right now.

I am currently watching the One Love Manchester Concert so I have been quite distracted while writing this post this is also the reason why it is late. Probably the reason why the post is not making a lot sense as well.

Time

The reason I don’t end up doing a lot of things I intend is due to lack of time. Is it lack of time or lack of time management? I am such a procrastinator when it comes to doing stuff for me. I also get addicted to silly games like Cookie Jam. I cannot remember exactly what level I’m on but it is somewhere in the 1900’s just to prove how much I play that one game.

So the goals for the next two weeks… till the next post

  1. Is to create a list of all the things I want I to complete this year and set out a schedule.
  2. Not play on the games so much – limit it to maybe 30 minutes a day or less
  3. Go Running… I have been a few times need to try for twice a week.
  4. Revisit my Health and Fitness Journal.

Quite an easy list to start with…. to be honest finding it hard to concentrate what with the concert and the pain in my face. I really need to get to the dentist tomorrow.

I hope the next post will be pain free…
